Volumetric Data Collection and Computation
Most appropriate method for calculating volumes is by comparing two DTM surfaces. It may be utilized for stock piles inventory, monitoring earthwork progress, volumes of pits, ponds, lakes, etc.
Stock Pile Volumes Sample
First surface is the base of a pile. Often, material is stocked against sloped ground requiring careful definition of the base.
Second surface is pile itself. All significant terrain breaks are compiled for accurate pile definition.
Resulting volumes are presented in a tabular form:
Final delivery product may be: reformatted list of piles and corresponding volumes, CAD drawing of pile outlines with optional contours, 3D graphic presentation for each pile, aerial photo or digital orthophoto, etc.
